Tuber Sale Policies

  • Listings are for 1 tuber
  • We are unable to add to, cancel or remove from orders once they are placed. If you want to order more tubers, you need to place a second order.
  • We ship to the USA Lower 48 only
  • We guarantee that our tubers are true to variety, have a viable eye, and an intact neck.
  • Kindness matters. We understand that Dahlia sales can bring up many emotions. Not everyone will score the cultivar they want. Remember that these are dormant plant roots, and we are human. Sometimes things go wrong. The large majority of sellers are doing their best. Any bashing, rude emails, etc. will result in your order being cancelled and any future orders from you being cancelled. We grow because we love it, and we'd like to keep the Dahlia community a positive experience for all of us.
  • Fall shipping sale policies: This sale is for growers who are in lower zones that plant early, or for cold zone growers who want to propagate over the winter and are confident in their winter storage abilities. Fall tubers are at the buyer's risk. Please do not order fall tubers if you are unable to store them properly as we are not liable for any storage loss when they are in your hands. Shipping - We will pay attention to our weather here in CT. If you are concerned about your weather to receive, or weather during transit between Connecticut and where you live, we highly recommend you add a heat pack to your order. We are not liable for losses due to freezing in transit or while the box is waiting for you at your mailbox, so make sure to bring it inside if you are experiencing low temps. Tracking is provided so you can see when it will arrive and we ship USPS Priority mail. Shipping costs: 1-3 tubers $12, 4-15 tubers $19, 16+ tubers $25. No combined shipping available for our fall sale - this is a short sale and we are opening it unannounced to our newsletter subscribers first, so you should have plenty of time to shop. If you are local to Bristol CT and want to pickup your tubers, select Local Pickup at checkout. Pickup will be on Saturday 11/22 in Bristol only.
  • Tuber orders must be placed separately from fresh cut flower products, seeds, fall Bulbs, rooted cuttings, etc.
  • Items in your cart are NOT reserved until you complete checkout & place the order.
  • Quantities: Please note we are a micro farm and quantities will be limited. For some new to us cultivars, we only grow one plant - others, we grow up to 20.
  • Limits: Due to the above, we will place household limits on certain varieties in hopes that more customers can get what they want. This will not be automatically applied in checkout. Please respect the limit rules in the tuber listing - we will cancel all orders that do not respect the limits!
  • Spring Shipping Policy - Tubers will ship via USPS Priority Mail at tiered rates (1-3 tubers $13, 4-15 tubers $19, 16+ tubers $25). This covers the cost of shipping and materials. All orders will ship in April 2026 in the order they were received, pending severe frost threat. If we need to push back shipping due to our weather, we will inform you. We cannot accommodate early shipping. We are not responsible for damage to tubers/tubers freezing due to USPS handling or being left outside at your door.
  • Spring Only - Combined Shipping - We will combine shipping on orders. Email us your order numbers at info@stemandvinefarm.com with the subject title "Combine Shipping." Please do not send them to us on social media/messenger. Once we start processing orders in April, we cannot combine Shipping so let us know right away! We will refund you the difference in shipping depending on the shipping tier your combined order falls under (example - you place one order with 1 tuber ($12 ship), and another with 3 tubers ($12 ship)- you are now in the $18 shipping tier and you'l be refunded $6).
  • Virus/Disease Policy - All of our stock was grown out by us here in central Connecticut. We are licensed by the state to sell dahlias. We do not sell imports. We do not hold any U-Picks. All tools that come in contact with our dahlias are strictly sanitized with a 10% bleach water soak for 10 minutes between all plants during all stages of the season, including dividing tubers. We cull plants that are showing any signs of virus. We visually inspected each clump and tuber, and none of our tubers presented any form of gall during the 2024 season. Virus and disease do happen and sometimes do not show up right away. The ADS estimates that 87% of dahlias in the US carry some form of virus. Due to these statistics/our strict sanitation procedures, we do not offer refunds if your plants show forms of virus/disease during your growing season. Once they are out of our hands, it is out of our control.
  • Storage Loss Policy - We mitigate loss as much as possible, but as this is a pre-sale, storage loss can happen. If we cannot fulfill your order at the time of shipment, we will reach out to you via email with a refund.
  • Inspection on Arrival -  Tubers come in all shapes and sizes, and some can look totally weird! We grade our tubers (A & B). All tubers are Grade A unless specified in the listing. Remember that we are essentially growing fancy potatoes, even grade A tubers can look imperfect. We visually inspect each tuber that is sent out, and guarantee that each has a viable eye, an intact neck, and a body - this is all it needs to grow. Please inspect your tubers immediately upon arrival and email us at info@stemandvinefarm.com within 48 hours of receipt if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Refunds - Tuber refunds will be offered if we cannot fulfill your order due to storage loss on our end, or under our true to variety guarantee. We do not cover loss that occurs while they are in your possession. We take extra care to ensure that tubers are sent out in good shape and are viable. If you have issues with an order, we will approve refunds on a case by case basis - typically requiring that the tuber be sent back to us if we feel it did arrive in good shape.
  • "Grade B" tubers - Grade B tubers are tubers that we would normally keep for ourselves to grow, but we have too many to keep this season! They could be smaller than usual, thinner necks, missing skin from the neck and/or body, have lost some moisture (but not soft), the body may have been accidentally cut into during harvesting, or simply too weird or ugly to grade as Grade A, etc. We will send you a viable tuber with a viable eye and an intact neck. They are available at a discounted rate due to aesthetic reasons. We will not refund Grade B tubers due to their looks. By purchasing a Grade B product, you understand and agree to this disclaimer. Please also remember that no tuber is perfect - even grade A tubers.
  • We reserve the right to update our terms at any time.
